Laptops:Yes or No?
Should middle school students have laptops in school? Who should pay for them? Do they incease the level of student learning? Listen here for these questions and .more.

I don’t think kids should have laptops because it is too much responsibility and kids might mess around with it. Even if the money won’t be a problem, kids might waste their time on it. I think the youngest age people should have laptops are when they are in 8th grade.

I think yes. Because if there were websites for our textbooks, it be better than straining yourself. Plus it’s easier to just get out your laptop than having to go to your house our your computer lab:)
Hi Mr. Sturgeon. I think that students should have their own lap top computers. It really depends on who is paying for the lap tops. Are the computers free for students? Do us students have to pay for any damage we make to the computers? Is somebody else paying? I think we should pay for anything we do to the computors and have some responsobility. But I think it would be retro if we could have our own lap tops.

I think yes we should have laptops because what if we had our textbooks on the computer? we would’nt need to have notebooks and it would be easier just to carry one laptop all day rather than having to carry all these books. It would also be easier because we would’nt have to go to the computer room because the computer would be right there.

Hi Mr.Sturgeon, According to me, I think we should have laptops in school and good laptops in school…It helps in not going to the MSMC all the time and finishing our stuff..when someone says that they can just keep surfing the net, the IT office should block game sites like on the PC’s….great idea from Shanghai, China….] Laptops Rock!!!!
I think students should get lab tops. Then students could have their books on the lab top. If that happens then schools would be using less paper. Then students will complain less about big books.

I think having laptops would be a big responsibly and some kids are not ready for it. We will probily be using the laptops for or classes and some students could be playing on the computer and not doing their work. This could come for that student to have bad grades and would have a lot of catching up to do. this is whyu having laptops would not be good.
I think computers would be so awesomly awesome because it’s so much easier to do stuff when you’ve got one. In Beijing, at my old school, we all had computers and there never were money problems or anything! Bedsides you can personalize it and stuff… you know?
I think that this is not really a good idea because some people might just lose it. Also, some people might be pretending to study with in class but actually playing game with them or trading emails. So this is why I think that laptops are not really a good idea.
no i dont think it is a good idea no matter how responsible you are it will be hard to carry. If we have laptops what was the purpose of having desktops. It would be nice if we can trade the computers to laptop but i think we would have to pay more for laptops.
I think laptops would be a good idea but you’ll have to take care of them and be responsible. If something bad happened to it, you would be in big trouble if the school or your parents spent so much on it.
I think that kids should have laptops so that they can do thier homework on thw computer when they’re not at home.
Evrn though having laptops is a big resposibility the kid will enjoy it and he should have to pay to repair it if it’s broken or has a virus
I think having laptops would probably not be a good idea. The reason is just like what others said, it’s a HUGE responsibility, and sometimes I can lose my stuff, so if I had my own laptop to take with me everywhere, I would surely lose it some where. Plus, some students might just do something on the laptop that’s off topic (e.g. playing games)besides studying or working. So it’s better if we shouldn’t have laptops.
I think its a bad idea because it wastes resources and it takes a big responsibility to own a leptop, and maybe some students never used a leptop before so they will have difficulties and bad grades in school.
I think that we shouldn’t have laptops because then we have to carry a laptop to every class. I know that we carry alot of books to class but if we drop our laptop then it might break but if you drop your book nothing happens (except maybe your book bends). Also laptops for every class is bad for your eyes. Laptops also will make us very lazy because we don’t have to write with our hand anymore, and it is not really fair if you are in a test and they mark presentation because then everybody would have the same score. If we keep using technology to do our work we might get lazy. This is why I think laptops would not be good.
It is not a bad idea but it needs alot of money for it and it will increase the viress around the school and our vision will surelly go worse. We can help a lot of other children that cannot even a ford their food withe the money.
The idea of having laptops has both ups and downs,which makes it a hard decision. But I don’t think that having laptops are much different than books. My opinion is that laptops should maybe, be for more older and more responsible students, maybe for High School? So that the risk of losing or maybe damage to the laptop would not be such a big concern. Another problem is that laptops could also tempt or distract some from their work. I think the big and new idea of laptops in classrooms still needs more time to think about

I think having laptops is a good idea and bad idea because some people might not treat it well but it is also good becase we don’t have to go to the computer labe every time we need a computer. all that money can be used for ather things like things for the envioment or for unfutunet people on the streets
I think it’s a good idea for lap tops instead of big books, but I think that it’s also not a good idea of having lap tops because their bad for your eyes and we can get lazy if we have to use lap tops. Having lap tops in oly spacific class is okay beacuse we don’t have to carry big books and we can do work easily.I think having lap tops is not a good idea for some students because they can get broken if they fall it down. In the case of us paying for the damages of lap tops that is okay it teaches us to be more responsible, but I think that the school should pay for the lap tops.
I think the idea of having laptops at school is a good and bad idea at the same time. I think it is a bad idea because the management of laptops are hard. Who is going to pay for them? And the good side is that you can take that specific laptop home and work on it easily. So it is both a good and bad idea.

I think is a good idea to bring a laptops but in other way i dont think is a good idea to bring laptops because is haveyto bring the laptops every were in the school And it might get lost or might break.
I think that it is a good idea to have laptops at school because it will be like having your own data. But at the same time it will be a hassle to carry around a laptop. Because you might drop it and then it will break.
i think this is not a bad idea, we should have loptops because we can have it every time and the teacher do not need to worry. but do we have enough money to spend. we student have to keep it safe.
Hi Mr. Sturgeon, I definitely think students should have laptops in class. It will help them with their work and the students will be able to teach the teachers a thing or two about computers. Who will pay for them is a tough question? I think if the program is promoted properly to the parents, they could see the benefits and it could become part of the tuition.
I THINK THAT WE SHOULD HAVE LAPTOPS BECAUSE IF OUR SIBLINGS OR FAMILTY MEMBERS ARE USING THE COMPUTER, AND YOU NEED IT FOR SOMETHING IMPORTANT WHAT ARE YOU GOING TO DO.
P.S. THEY CAN ALWAYS HELP YOU ESPECIALY IF YOU NEED TO DO HOMEWORK. YOU CAN USE THE INTERNET WITHOUT A PROBLEM UNLESS THERE IS NO INTERNET ACSESS OR WIFI.
I think we should have laptops because it will make it easier for students. Students won’t have to write anymore. We could easily use microsoft word. We won’t lose paper because it’s all stored in out documents. We could also do tests on laptops then we email them to our teachers. We won’t have to carry the math textbooks. The math textbooks are really heavy.
If there is wifi or internet connection, students could use the internet. Students could use the online textbooks.

I don’t think we really need laptops,the responsibility is too high. if we break it or lose it, it will cost a lot and we’ll be toast by the school and our family
I think we should have labtops in the class room, one point is that we can save paper and just submit the work by E-mail attachments, another point is that the labtop prices will lower, and lastly, we can use all the labtops we want! (not to mention more high tech!)
I think we should use laptops because it would be easier for us, students. we could use the online textbook instead of real textbook. It would be easier to bring things to class. We wouldn’t loose our work, if we use laptops instead of computers.
I think that HS and up should have laptops because there isn’t much use for a laptop in MS, unless we are planning to do everything on the computer. If we are going to leave the laptop in the locker three-fourths of the time, what was the point of buying it? It is too expensive and can easily be lost because of the urge of stealing. Someone could start stealing everybody’s and make a profit by selling it back. It isn’t the best idea until everyone can be responsible.
