Crazy Carlos in Intramuros

Imaboy016.jpg

What a treat! Carlos treated us to a great walking tour within the walls of Intramuros, Manila’s former capital. Fort Santiago, San Agustin Church, and the Casa Manila were the major stops on our journey.

Carlos dazzled us with a ‘one minute history of Jose Rizal,” the role of the Spanish and the Chinese in the the Philippines, Pinoy architecture(or lack of it) and reasons for the “Halo-Halo” make-up of Filipinos.

If you enjoyed the tour and want to treat your friends or even your parents, then contact Carlos at his blog. He has a schedule posted there.

To learn more about Carlos, to get Mom and Dad to understand the things you told them about Carlos, read this.

Fire Mummies of the Philippines

mummy2.jpgkabayanapoannu.jpgPerhaps the best podcast yet! Rebecca has volunteered to speak with us about the Fire Mummies of the Philippines.

Grade Six students watched an intriguing National Geographic video about mummies found in the hot, humid climate of the Philippines. Rebecca reminds us on where they were found, which cultural groups were involved, and how they mummified their relatives. A great listen! Copyofphilippinesmanilabenquet.jpg
